I show you how I make my no-dig gardens in under an hour. It is so easy and so cheap to do and you can plant in them straight away. To maintain this bed I’ll keep adding organic matter and mulch as often as it needs it.
This organic matter can break down quickly or slowly depending on temperature, rainfall, soil type underneath….
Once the plants are finished I’ll chop them at the base, leave the roots in the ground and cover them up again with a layer of compost and mulch.
Beds like this will need ongoing organic layers added as the worms and microorganisms break the layers down. You can use whatever organic matter you find; leaves, pine needles, grass clippings, straw, hay, compost…
