Shady patios can be beautified with our three container plants that will not only thrive but also provide color that is often lacking in shade garden collections. The astilbe & Hosta are true perennials that not only come back year after year, but they will also live a very long time. Astilbe bear showy pink, plume-like flowers on tall, stiff stalks above fern-like, glossy foliage. Hosta’s large, bold leaves have various shapes. Some leaves have deep green centers & creamy white margins that turn snowy white with Age, & others have light green leaf centers that turn gold toward early summer mauve or pale lavender funnel-shaped flowers bloom atop long scapes in mid-summer both hostas & astilbe love plenty of water, so be sure the containers receive adequate rainfall or water & among the easiest to grow of all perennials fast-growing & can be divided every 3-4 years or thereafter as containers become crowded prefer shady spots protected from strong afternoon sun grows 24-36″ & 24-48″ tall plant in groups perennial in zones 3-9; dig & store indoors in colder areas growing instructions: fill the desired container approximately 3/4 full of good potting soil.
