Black Seeded Simpson lettuce is one of the most popular loose leaf lettuces in home gardens. Why? Simply because it is fast growing, and has a light, sweet taste.
Though the outer leaves are tender and crisp with a mild, nutty, and sweet flavor, the white inner ribs are crunchy and less palatable, often slightly bitter.
The leaves of this lettuce variety are tender and succulent, with mild flavor. The leaves darken at their ends giving a nice visual variation to your garden.
With a mild, bitter-free flavor, Red Sails has 6 times the amount of vitamin A and 3 times the amount of vitamin C as typical supermarket lettuce
